BRIEF: Changes afoot at Ave Maria Prep

Bradenton Herald - 7/27/2017

July 27--BRADENTON -- Ave Maria Preparatory School, a Bradenton school for students ages 6 to 22 with disabilities, is being renamed. The school will be known as The McKay Academy, and Goodwill Manasota will take over business management of the school.

The academy is an accredited non-graded school offering special or standard diplomas to students with autism, attention deficit disorder, Asperger's syndrome, Tourette syndrome and bipolar disorders.

Sister Gilchrist Cottrill will remain the director of the school.

"Ave Maria has long been close to our hearts at Goodwill because we believe everyone who wishes to learn and work should have the opportunity," said Goodwill Manasota president and CEO Bob Rosinsky. "We are very fortunate to have a strong board of directors with numerous years of experience with the emotional and academic challenges of students with learning challenges and utilizes that experience in providing the most suitable education for McKay students."
