BRIEF: Surfing group hosts clinic for children with disabilities
Monitor - 7/19/2018
July 19--Every child who signed up to learn how to surf showed up for a chance to ride the South Padre Island waves.
SPI Sessions held a surfing clinic this past weekend for children with special needs and young adults.
Children with Down syndrome and cerebral palsy participated in the event and tested their skills, laying on the board and standing, and rode the waves.
SPI Sessions event organizer Aarin Hartwell said 30 children signed up for the event, and they were all eager to learn.
"It was fun and it was a perfect day for surfing on the Island," Hartwell said.
