Free presentation in Abbotsford focuses on 'Autism in the 21st Century'

Abbotsford News - 2/10/2020

A free talk being held in Abbotsford on Wednesday, Feb. 12 as part of Psychology Month focuses on "Autism in the 21st Century."

The talk runs from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Clearbrook Library, 32320 George Ferguson Way.

Dr. Cheryl Ainsworth, a registered psychologist, will discuss three aspects of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD): the history, diagnosis, and emerging perspectives, including the assessment and identification of ASD in kids and adults.

She will provide information regarding support services, and there will be an opportunity for questions and an informal discussion following the presentation.

The event is part of a series of 21 talks held in February throughout Metro Vancouver, the Fraser Valley and Vancouver Island by the BC Psychological Association (BCPA).

BCPA hopes the series will raise awareness that effective psychological treatments exist for the majority of mental illnesses and that it will help identify where people can access treatment.
