The Digital Shifter is a computer-controlled driving system designed for use by individuals with upper extremity disabilities. The system allows a person having limited hand/arm strength and range of motion to shift an automatic transmission. The Digital Shifter is microprocessor-controlled and interfaces with most vehicles by dip switch selection. The system comes with the ACE Digital Shifter, the ACE Digital Shifter Actuator and Customer Interface switches. In positive shifting with one press JOG mode, the user can select one gear position per press up or down. In PRNDL (Park, Reverse, Neutral, Drive, Low) mode, the user can select direct gear position with individual shift position switches. Safety features include on-board diagnostic, fault monitoring, and driver alerts for adverse conditions. Anti-shift from or into Park or Reverse requires the user to depress the brake. The system also activates anti-shift from Park if a ramp is extended and automatically shifts to neutral if power is lost.
