Maps of Alaska is a braille and tactile atlas designed for use by individuals who are blind or have low vision. The book is divided into two sections. The first half of the book contains overall maps showing land regions, cities and towns, rivers, mountains, national parks and native corporations, boroughs and climate. The second half of the book divides the state into seven regions: Brooks Range and North Slope, Fairbanks and the Interior, Anchorage and South Central Alaska, West Coast, Kodiak and Alaska Peninsula, Aleutian Islands, and the Panhandle. Each region has a page of introductory information in braille followed by a detailed map either on facing pages or on a foldout page. The maps are labled with key letters which are identified in brailled key pages that face the map. These maps are created by hand in metal foil and copied by thermoforming. This volume of maps contains 74 pages including 21 maps and is bound with cardboard covers and a multi-ring binder.
