NAMI seeks participants for its Youth in Crisis training

May 12--MOULTRIE, Ga. -- NAMI Moultrie has been selected as a pilot site for Youth in Crisis. This training program is primarily designed for law enforcement, educators, mental health providers, counselors, faith leaders, school personnel, and others who touch the lives of youth.

The course will provide information to adults to help identify mental health disorders and circumstances that can lead to crisis, according to a press release from NAMI-Moultrie. Class participants will learn effective tools and techniques to assist and support youth and their caregivers. CE credit is available for LPC and LCSW professionals and POST credit is approved for law enforcement.

This NAMI-Georgia training is funded by DBHDD and includes topics on: understanding adolescent development and behavioral health disorders/treatment, intellectual developmental disorders and ADHD, suicidal and non-suicidal self-injury, autism and fetal alcohol syndrome, commercial sexual exploitation, bullying and cyber bullying, LGBTQ youth, IDEA, IEP, and 504 plans, Georgia systems serving youth, and crisis intervention and de-escalation.
