A day to learn about different abilities

Students of Chaparral Elementary in Chino Hills had a chance to peek into the world of people who have autism, sensory processing issues, visual and hearing impairments, speech and language disorders, learning, physical and intellectual disabilities at the school's first Disability Awareness Assembly.

Administrators, teachers and parents were on hand to assist the students at eight interactive booths. Assistant principal Ibis Cordero said she would like to see this program become a blueprint for other schools to follow for the benefit of all students.
