Man accused of sexual battery upon disabled stepdaughter

Dothan Eagle - 12/2/2017

A 71-year-old Greenwood man has been charged with committing sexual battery upon his disabled 38-year-old step-daughter.

Nathaniel Watson was arrested after investigators determined that Watson allegedly had non-consensual sexual intercourse with the woman, who has been diagnosed with cerebral palsy. Officials say she is physically incapacitated, unable to communicate verbally or in writing, unable to resist and unable to provide consent.

When confronted by family members about the alleged sexual battery of Tuesday, Nov. 28, authorities say, Watson allegedly tried to withdraw a large sum of money from one of the family bank accounts but fled after he was unsuccessful in doing that.

On Wednesday, officials say, he reached out to a family member and told that person he was in Live Oak and needed information for a nearby relative.

Authorities sent out an alert to be on the lookout for him, with special attention for the Live Oak area. A short time later, a Live Oak Police Department officer contacted one of the family members. That person and Watson were together at a local store at the time.

Watson was located and held pending the issuance of a search warrant. This was obtained and Watson was to be held without bond until he can be brought to court in the local circuit.
