Sensory Friendly Santa coming to Coastal Grand Mall

The Horry Independent - 11/16/2017

Coastal Grand Mall is bringing a whole new experience to their Holiday festivities this year, so the entire family can enjoy their time with Santa and his friends.

On December 3rd from 9:00-11:00am the mall will be open to families impacted by autism or other special needs. This time has been exclusively booked for families that want to visit Santa's Workshop that need a sensory-friendly environment. Families can enjoy shopping and meeting Santa in a calm, quiet and low-sensory atmosphere without the fear of noise, crowds or other issues.

Some of the steps that Coastal Grand Mall is taking to provide a calm and relaxed environment will be muting lights and music, along with greatly reducing mall traffic. Families will be given a reservation time to come and visit Santa, so they won't have to wait in a crowded line and can go enjoy the other exciting Holiday decorations and sales at the mall.

"We hope this event will bring smiles and holiday magic for many families who would not otherwise have the opportunity to shop and visit with Santa this season," said Tori Dean, Marketing Director at Coastal Grand Mall. "We have more than 40 Coastal Grand retailers participating in this event, and we hope to add more in the next few weeks."

Families are encouraged to register for this Sensory Friendly Shopping and Santa event ahead of time. More information and a registration form can be found Here!

This event being hosted by Coastal Grand Mall is being sponsored by Champion Autism Network. Champion was started in 2013 to provide sensory friendly environments and events where families impacted by autism can feel supported.
