The Current of Galloway Township - 5/4/2017

EGG HARBOR CITY - Earlier this school year, Egg Harbor City Community School first-year teacher Gianna Miranda approached Principal Jack Griffith and suggested the topic of autism awareness be discussed at a school climate committee meeting.

"Everyone loved the idea, and Gianna took it upon herself to gather information and distribute it to teachers over the month of April so discussion about autism could be had during our daily morning meetings," Griffith said. "Earlier in the school year, we presented the idea to the entire school and had every homeroom create a slogan on autism and voted for the best one. The winning slogan was placed on T-shirts given to every staff member in the school, Board of Education office and child study team. The students in the winning homeroom also got shirts.
