New Therapy Aims to Aid Kids on Autism Spectrum

Voices - 4/22/2017

TORRINGTON - The Center for Children's Therapy located at the Maria Seymour Brooker Memorial, provides individualized therapy services tailored to each child's specific needs across all stages of development. Available therapy services include occupational, physical, speech-language, and most recently, applied behavior analysis therapy.

ABA therapy is often recommended for children who have deficits in their ability to process social interactions with others, such as children with autism spectrum disorders.

ABA therapy uses a series of evidence-based interventions based upon the principles of learning theory to improve a child's behavior and achieve meaningful academic and social gains that positively impact his or her quality of life.

Several ABA methods are incorporated in CCT therapy sessions, including naturalistic instruction, discrete trial training, and behavior modification with positive reinforcement.

All ABA therapy services are provided by a board certified behavior analyst.

The Center for Children's Therapy welcomes children ages birth to 21 who are in need of therapeutic services. Most forms of insurance are accepted, including HUSKY Health (Medicaid).

A sliding fee scale is available for families without insurance.
