St. Leo's Knights of Columbus

The St. Leo's Knights of Columbus had their monthly meeting March 20 in the parish hall in observance of Feast Day of St. Joseph.

Grand Knight Tim Golka called the meeting to order and Father Mark Maresh opened with a prayer.

Upcoming events are: Special Olympics track meet at Grand Island Senior High, 9 a.m., April 22; Feast of Divine Mercy celebration at St. Mary's, 3 p.m., April 23; Teresa Monahan will make a presentation on Fatima St. Mary's, 6:30 p.m., April 24; clean up on Highway 281 north of town by Eagle Scout Lake on April 25, with food at 5:30 p.m. and picking up trash at 6; state convention in Kearney, April 28-30 (the council will be represented; contact District Deputy Chuck Donner for more information); ordination Celebration of five permanent Deacons, with the Fourth Degree serving as honor guard, 10 a.m.May 28; and Matthew Nash will be ordained a priest at the Cathedral, 6 p.m.June 9.

The council will host the TV Mass for the homebound at noon and 12:30 p.m.June 22. The public is invited to attend this Mass to be shown on July 2 and 9.

Deacon Bill Buchta reported on IRA's and ROTH IRA's offered by the Knights, which add security to any portfolio with no management fees.

Closing prayers intentions were made for Mike Flaherty, Matt Ripp, Albie Sindelar, Connie Allen, Lorraine Matousek, seminarians Chas Canfield, Dan Gilbert and Dillion Spies.
