POLICE Weymouth men charged with robbing autistic man Additional charges may be filed against woman

Weymouth News - 8/31/2016

Two Weymouth men have been charged with unarmed robbery and assaulting a 21-year-old autistic man with a bottle on Aug. 22, according to police.

Tiago A. Teixeira, 19, of 123 Colonel’s Lane #27 and Christopher M. Keeley, 21, of 75 Parkview Street were ordered held without bail by a Quincy District Court judge during their arraignment Monday to answer charges that also include assault and battery that caused serious bodily injury, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and conspiracy.

The judge ordered Teixeira and Keeley to be fitted with GPS tracking bracelets and post $5,000 cash bail as a condition for release prior to attending a pre-trial conference hearing.

Police said in a report they received a call on Aug. 22, at 11:30 p.m., about a young man that was being treated at South Shore Hospital regarding an assault that had occurred earlier near House Rock Park.

The location of the alleged assault is adjacent to a dead end street and is a small park known for frequent gatherings among teens at night, according to police.

Police said the man told an officer at the hospital he had left his home at approximately 11 p.m. to meet a female friend who he had spoken to on Facebook, a social media website.

“He stated that he had not seen her in a while and that she responded and agreed to meet him approximately a quarter mile from his home near House Rock Park,” police said in the report.

Police said the man approached a car where the female friend was inside with another woman.

“He (man) stated that he went to open the door to the car and found it locked,” police said. “He then observed two males come up from behind him and begin to assault him. He stated that it happened quickly and he could not give a description of either of the suspects, but stated that one was a 'big dude' and that he was Hispanic. He stated a second party was approximately 6-feet and that he was white or Hispanic. He stated that he could not provide any clothing description because they hit him so quickly and went down."

"He stated that he was kicked multiple times in the face and head. They also hit him with a bottle across the head.”

Police said the man told the officer that both suspects stole his wallet and cell phone.

“Weymouth PD had received a call for a male in the area running from home to home with blood on his face, but were not able to locate anyone,” police said.

Police said the man eventually made it home and his mother drove him to the hospital for treatment of his injuries.

Officers at the hospital reported seeing the man in the emergency room lying on a bed that was covered in blood.

“He had noticeable swelling on his face, mouth and eyes,” police said. “He was also secured in a neck brace.”

The man also gave the officers a bag containing a broken bottle that he believed the assailants struck him with, according to the police report.

Police said they spoke with two women ages 19 and 20 from Weymouth on Aug. 23 who said they had been with Teixeira and Keeley earlier in the day when the man reportedly sent one of the women a Facebook message asking her to meet up to smoke marijuana, according to the report.

One of the women told detectives a plan was devised to rob the man, according to police.

Police said one of the women told an officer that the man’s wallet was in her home and she signed a search consent form.

The wallet was recovered behind a dresser drawer, according to police.

Police said the woman told police the man’s cell phone was in a storm drain up the road near the scene of the alleged assault.

“She then walked us up the road and we located a blue Verizon phone in the drain,” police said. “A department of public works employee was able to remove the grate as we photographed and secured the phone.”

Police said there is probable cause to also charge the women with unarmed robbery, assault and battery that caused serious bodily injury, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and conspiracy.
